The 'Shore' Club

Fashion Wire Daily LA May 20, 2003 - QVC's annual "Cure by the Shore" benefit, with proceeds going to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, hit the shores of Malibu Saturday afternoon. Guests enjoyed an amazing view from Dick Clark's Pacific Coast Highway estate overlooking the ocean, and waited patiently for celebrity guests to arrive. They got just that when Ashton Kutcher arrived with a friend, followed by Marlon and Shawn Wayans.

"Ashton looks really well-kept, which is so unlike him," whispered one guest, "he looks HOT!" Indeed he did. The "That '70s Show" and "Punk'd" star opted for a simple gray t-shirt and jeans, topping the look off by grabbing a pair of clear Dior sunglasses, courtesy of Safilo, on his way into the party. He did not stay long, however -- missing his ex-girlfriend and "Just Married" co-star Brittany Murphy by mere minutes -- but he did pick up a Raspberry smoothie from the Jamba Juice stand before heading out.

Marlon Wayans, totally cute in a red, white and blue bomber-style jacket and matching sunglasses, brought his own beverage along with him. He gulped from a gallon of water periodically throughout the day, amusing onlookers. Others scarfed down cocktails, grilled corn-on-the-cob, chicken tandoori and an array of salads. The banana bread pudding with whiskey sauce was superb, as was the spread of fresh fruit and pastries. Partying aside, no one forgot the reason they were there.

"My sister has MS so I just want to help in any way I can," said "Everwood" cutie Mike Erwin, who went a more formal route in a beige suit. "I usually want to be more hands-on [in volunteering] but just being here to support the cause is fine with me."
