Fashion Wire Daily NY May 20, 2003 - Sandra Wilson, fashion accessories director of Neiman-Marcus, is obviously an accessories nut: One of her favorite endeavors is prepping the suite at New York's Chambers Hotel for the elegant department store chain's twice-a-year review.
"Putting the looks and themes together and being in a room surrounded by such wonderful pieces for a few days is an absolute pleasure," she gushed. And as always, walking into her accessory laden layer is somewhat like discovering Pandora's box -- precisely placed seasonal shoes, bags, belts, earrings, pendants, stockings and hats fill the suite and terrace.
For fall 2003 there's a style to suit every fashion forward femme. From the bold, black and white patent leather boots and shoes from Kate Spade, the Marc Jacobs and Celine metallic silver bags and Michele watches -- all with a mod look -- to the "Glam Rock" sexy spike heels from Louis Vuitton and Cavalli, long leather gloves galore, and heavy-on-the-hardware bags from Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Dior replete with studs, grommets, hooks and eyes, it's a fashion feast.
Pushing musical influence aside, Neiman's 'Vintage Glamour' section was packed with chandelier earrings, doctor bags in lizard, suede and patent and ladylike Prada pieces, all with a definite '30s and '50s feel.
As demonstrated by Wilson, fur is also huge for the store with shawls, shrugs and shoulder warmers from Goldin Feldman, Landau and Cassin; leopard bags from Prada and, for the brave, the beaver bag from Gucci's runway.
There are also flashes of color -- in particular, green will be seen plenty this fall, in a fabulous moss bag with toggle fastening from Burberry, or a Prada or Pucci leafy green number.
Finally, for evening, all will be bejeweled. From diamond-studded shoes, to gem stoned bags and glittering belts, it's all about the sparkle.
