Taiwan weather radar shows Tropical Storm Bopha approaching the island's southern coast.
Tropical storm Bopha’s passage over the southern half of Taiwan produced no significant damage or any injuries, according to officials.

The Central Weather Bureau reported the eye of the storm made landfall in southern Taitung county. Bopha then quickly lost force over the interior high terrain before passing offshore again to the west.

Outer bands of the storm struck the northern Philippines, leaving at least seven people dead and more than 1,200 houses destroyed by huge waves crashing into coastal communities.

Bopha means "flower" in the Cambodian language.
