Quake Map
The Greek capital of Athens was gently rattled by a magnitude 4.0 tremor early Sunday, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute reported the quake’s epicenter was about 8 miles (13 km) northeast of the capital.

Quakes are frequent in the country, but rarely occur so close to Athens, according to seismologists at the institute.

• Southern parts of Albania and neighboring areas of western Greece were rocked on Sunday by a magnitude 5.3 quake.

The shaking was felt strongly in the Greek city of Ioannina and the nearby island of Corfu at 9:50 a.m. local time.
