A series of six small tremors shook areas just to the east of downtown Oklahoma City, with the strongest occurring on Monday afternoon.

The 3.0 magnitude jolt was felt widely across the suburbs of Midwest City, Del City and Tinker Air Force Base at 12:33 p.m. local time, according to the Oklahoma Geological Survey.

Chief geologist Jim Lawson of the agency said it is somewhat unusual to have a magnitude 3.0 earthquake in central Oklahoma, but that it was not strong enough to cause significant damage.

Five smaller quakes ranging in magnitude from 1.5 to 2.7 were also recorded on Sunday and Monday.
